Calling the Hott Integration
The 3Digi emulates a Hott General Air-Module (GAM) sensor. So you have to activate this kind of sensor in your transmitter.
To adjust 3Digi settings go to the telemetry menu on your transmitter, select "Setting & Data View" and activate the GENE sensor. Then push ENT until you see the 3Digi settings menu.
Don´t change any settings, while you are in the air! Do that only, when you are on the ground!
Hint: If 3Digi parameters have been changed using the transmitter, they have to saved permanently in the 3Digi after that, just as in the Terminal or Android App. For this there is a menu item in the 3Digi main menu.
Preparations for the 3Digi Hott Integration
For the 3Digi Hott Integration you have to make a few adjustments to the transmitter, receiver and 3Digi. These adjustments are briefly described below.
Receiver
In addition to the normal connection for the transmission of the control channels, a second connection has to be made between 3Digi and the receiver. This is done with a special adapter cable (see below) and transmits the data for the 3Digi Hott Integration and telemetry.
Set the receiver port for the normal control channel transmission to "SUMD" protocol and activate the receivers telemetry port for the telemetry and integration connection.
Cable for the connection 3Digi <-> receiver
For the connection of the 3Digi and the receiver a special adapter cable is required.
The following picture shows the cable:
One side of the cable will be connected to the special port of the 3Digi and the other side to the receiver.
The following wires have to be connected between 3Digi and receiver:
3Digi | Receiver |
---|---|
GND | GND |
TXD | Signal |
The socket build on the 3Digi is of type JST ZH 4-pin.
3Digi
In the Terminal set the RC protocol to "SRXL V8 (Graupner SUMD)" and the special port to "Hott Telemetry".
Using the integration menus
When you open the 3Digi integration, you see the following menu.
On the left side, you can see a > sign. This marks the current cursor position. You can move the cursor up or down with the DEC or INC buttons.
On the right side of the screen, you can see different markers for current parameter values or other functionality.
If there is a » sign, then there is a sub page available. Push the ENT button to open that sub page. Press ESC to leave the sub page and go back to the previous page.
If there is a !! sign on the right side, then that menu item calls a function. Press SET to activate the function execution mode. The !! on the right side will be shown in bold or in a brighter color (depending on your type of transmitter) and on the left side the cursor changes into a =. If you now press INC or DEC the function will be executed and the function execution mode will be left after that. ESC leaves the mode without executing the function.
The following picture shows a typical 3Digi parameter settings page.
Move the cursor to the parameter you want to change. In the picture above, the cursor is on the Agility setting for aileron. If you want to change that setting, press SET.
After that, you will enter the editing mode and the screen will look like in the following picture.
In editing mode, the value on the right side is shown in bold and on the left side the cursor changes to a =.
If you want to increase the value, press the INC button. If you want to decrease it, press DEC.
Sometimes, if you want to change a value over a greater range, it´s quite time consuming if the value only changes by 1.
Because of this, there is an option to adapt the change amount. If you press ENT in editing mode, change amount is increased to 10. If you press ENT again, it is increased to 100. Pressing ENT again goes back to 1.
The current change amount is shown by + signs in the top right corner of the screen.
If there is no +, then the change amount is 1, one + and the change amount is 10, 2 + change amount 100.
If you want to leave the editing mode, press SET or ESC.
Saving parameters
After you have changed a parameter using the Hott integration, the values have to be saved permanently in the 3Digi.
On the bottom of the entry screen, there is a function entry "Save parameter". If you execute that, the parameters are saved permanently in the 3Digi and the text "Unsaved params!", which is shown, if parameters have been changed, disappears.
User mode
As in the PC Terminal and in the Android App, you can activate different User modes in the Hott Integration.
If you scroll down on the entry screen, you will see a parameter "User mode".
Using that item, you can change the User Mode between "Simple", "Normal" and "Expert". Depending on that, more or less parameters are shown.
